Where are they now: Sarah and George

It's been a year since The Block Brighton...we catch up with Sarah and George who share some very exciting baby news with us!

Sarah and George, Block 2020 who took out Second Place share their very exciting baby news with The Block Shop.

So, it’s a year since The Block Brighton… how fast has that gone?

Time has flown since the Block 2020. You have auctions in November, then it's Christmas and the New Year. Before you know it, the cast for 2021 are starting at the beginning of the year and airing in August. It's so bizarre how quickly time flies.

What are you up to these days?

We’re having a baby!!! We’re having a little boy!

 
Sarah and George have announced they are having a baby boy and we couldn't be more excited for them!

You can call him Keith after your Block bestie!

Well… we’re probably going to steer clear of the names Keith, Dan and Scotty. We think we're just going to be a little bit more traditional!

 
Are you and George over the moon?

We are absolutely smitten. I literally cannot even describe how happy we're feeling, this is everything we did The Block for.

That’s true you always said you wanted to set yourself up so that you could maybe start a family… and here we are!

And here we are! Yep! Everything we did last year was so that we could have a family. We wanted to have George at home so that we could have a family together and grow up together… it was all worth it!

Aside from that bombshell news, what else have you been up to?

We are trying to build our brand. We have invested a lot of time building our Instagram page, to show our life and our interests. Sarah has started to study Interior Design, while working full time as a teacher and running the social media page. George is subcontracting as an electrical tradie and still collecting Pokemon cards.

How has life changed for you since then?

Our life has changed dramatically. We are so grateful to be in the position that we are in and it has allowed us to experience things and meet people we never imagined possible before.

How long did it take for life to get back to normal?

On a personal level, we truly feel that it took about one whole year to feel normal and to be in a somewhat normal position. 

What’s something that has changed forever?

One thing that has changed forever, is the recognition we get in our local community. No matter what happens and no matter where we go, people are still so interested in us, wanting to say hello and ask us about The Block which we find so cool.

Have you been doing any reno work since then?

We wouldn't call it reno but we have dived into a lot of projects around our home. We recently worked with a lot of Block sponsors to create a gorgeous raised brick garden bed and also a pizza oven station. We documented the whole thing on our Instagram page, to showcase the projects to our followers. We still have a few more projects to complete, that we're hoping to smash as soon as we are out of lockdown in NSW.

Are you still living in the same area?

Yes, we are still living in Western Sydney.

Do you keep in touch with the other Brighton Blockheads?

Yes, we still keep in contact with the other 2020 Blockheads. Some more than others but we always catch up somehow.

Do you have any Block besties?

Yes, our Block besties remain the same since the show. There was no surprise that we were close to Harry and Tash and that we are still close to them as well.

So now you’re back on the couch, what’s it like to watch the new teams take on their Block journey?

It's so different being on the other side of the show now. It's funny because you know how they are feeling, what they're experiencing and want to reach out and hug them all. The 2021 Blockheads are doing an amazing job so far!

Can you believe a new crew are following in your footsteps?

Yes and no. We can't believe how quickly it has come around but we're also so excited for the new contestants to experience the life changing opportunities ahead of them.

What advice are you yelling at the screen while you watch?

Not really anything to be honest. They're doing great and honestly, they'll find their feet really soon.

Would you do it again?

Yes and no. Yes, because we had such an amazing time and we miss the people and crew so much. No, because it changed our life and so many other Australians should have this amazing opportunity too.
