Where are they now? Jasmin and Luke

We catch up with Jasmin and Luke on what they are up to three years after being on The Block.

Luke and Jasmin appeared on The Block 2020, alongside fellow contestants Harry and Tash, Jimmy and Tam, Daniel and Jade and Sarah and George.

When these two entered the show as contestants Jas was a teacher and Luke a chippy, they had a four year old Lola and a one year old Sonny and lived in beautiful Western Australia, these two proved themselves to be hard workers but also loveable laricans and loyal friends, they fast became Block Faves and fast forward a few years we are keen to know what these guys were up to.

The Block 2020 contestantsThe Block bond is usually pretty strong between contestants but when you throw in COVID-19, the season created an extra special closeness. Remember those crazy times, national addresses from the PM, take a look how it affected The Block here.

We caught up with Luke and Jasmin to discuss all the things taking place in their lives, these two have come a long way since their time on the Block,  having made the move temporarily to Bali whilst Jasmin uses up her long service leave, it won’t be forever though as they are keen to get home to their dog in Western Australia.

Luke and Jasmin have always had a love for all Bali, having married in Uluwatu in 2012. They frequently holidayed in Bali, Jas says “although Bali has changed a lot in that time, the balinese people are still the same and make the place amazing!!”

Luke and Jasmin living in Bali Luke and Jasmin are making the most of Jasmin's long service leave, spending 3 months living in Bali and creating magical family memories to last a lifetime.

The first month of the trip included 34 days of travel, 11 hotels, 9 pieces of luggage, 4 fast ferries, 3 international flights, all with two young children, and two surfboards of course!

In that time Luke and Jasmin travelled Seminyak, Kuta, Sanur, Lembongan, Padang Bai, a Bali Village called Pengalon to donate rice, Gili T and Ubud, after a quick trip to Kuala Lumpur the family ended back in Pererenan, which is just north of Canggu) the couple have rented a villa via AirBnb for the remaining two months. Wow, what an epic family experience, no doubt something that will shape the kids and be at the core of their family values for a lifetime.

Luke and Jasmin visiting Pengalon to donate riceLuke and Jasmin took the kids to a Bali Village called Pengalon to donate rice, they took a break from social media in that time to really appreciate the experience they had, the smiles here say it all!

Luke and Jamine shared a day in their life with us.

“The day starts fairly early for us with the call to prayer in the local temple, then we head to our local cafe Selem Gadang for a coffee and smoothie every morning”

It’s close so we can walk there, we also have a laundry, bakery and mini mart, the only thing missing is a massage place”

The kids have been home-schooled and our lives have been made that much easier with My Big Adventure travel diaries, Jas has called on her teaching experience but says “it has still had it’s challenges, we try and get it done early in the day so it is out of the way and we are onto the real fun, the adventures and life lessons”

Treasured family moments in Bali for Luke, Jasmin and the kids! They have worked hard to get here and feel very lucky to have this opportunity.

The family then end up at the local beach to cool off whilst Luke surfs and Jas and kids make some magical memories. Followed by some food shopping on the way back home.

The afternoon is full of island time with swimming by the pool and then usually dinner out with friends.

Island time Luke and Jasmin in Bali"The afternoon is full of island time with swimming by the pool and then usually dinner out with friends." sounds like the perfect mix of living and leisure to us!

For those wishing to try a similar experience, Luke and Jas shared some of the costs you can expect.

“For a nice villa that’s pretty close to things with a pool you’re looking at $3-5k per month (not as cheap as it used to be) and that only includes a cleaner/maintenance/pool guy 3 times a week. We alternate between cooking breakfast or just the normal toast/cereal for the kids or just pop up to our local Warung for a great breakfast that will only cost you max $20-30. Sometimes it’s actually cheaper to support local and have it all done for you. “

A huge thank you to Jasmin, Luke, Lola and Sonny, for letting us share their magical experience, this loving family knows just how incredibly lucky they are to have this experience. A real highlight was when the technology was switched off and they immersed themselves and the kids in donating rice to a local community, absolutely eye opening and life changing.

Enjoy every minute guys!
