Luke and Jasmin – Where Are They Now?

We catch up with Luke and Jasmin over in WA! Can you believe it's been a year since The Block Brighton?

So, it’s a year since The Block Brighton… how fast has that gone?

I actually can't believe how fast this year has gone, basically we got back home and have been so busy ever since we just never came up for air. Obviously while we didn't get to do any Block events or any of the fun stuff because it was just isolation, isolation, isolation, but then it was straight back to work.

How has life changed for you since then?

We signed off with an agent when we got back and did a lot of leg work with a bunch of companies while we were in isolation and we've just signed on for a few ambassadorships which is exciting!

Plus my business has taken off, Jas is continuing her interior design - a lot of Melbourne and Sydney mum's reached out to Jasmine after the block and asked her to do up her famous mood boards which is lovely. It’s all going well.

So your new normal is nothing like your old normal?

No! But we’re actually trying to get back to a bit of normal. We just tried to take on way too much as soon as we got off the show so we’ve scaled it back a bit now and even with renovations it's just been too hectic so we sort of put the brakes on one of them.

Are you doing any renovation on your home?

We've pretty much finished renovating our family home but we are busting at the seems! We're currently looking for a block and a place to build our next home which is really exciting but the Perth market is booming and it's a bit of a nightmare to find anywhere to build at the moment!

Do you keep in touch with the other Brighton Blockheads?

Of course we do! The one thing that I love about that season is that we all keep in touch. We've got a WhatsApp group for all of us to chat in and just touch base – Jaz is constantly reaching out through the lockdowns just checking in and making sure everyone's alright.

Do you have any Block besties?

We speak almost every other day to Jimmy and Tam. They are our people, I said that on the show, you know when you meet your people and that was them for us, the relationship has been amazing. Jimmy and I will chat about work or everything or anything, we would love to get to Queensland and catch up with them, we've got a trip booked in October hopefully to go, fingers crossed that can happen!

What’s it like watching the new Blockheads on their journey?

It's a very different experience watching The Block once you’ve done it! You're a lot more sympathetic to the cause. No one really understands it until they’ve been through it. It’s funny, after The Block you think Oh if I did it again, I wouldn't do that or I would have done this differently or it'd be a lot easier if you did something this way because you've done it before, but none of the fans know that and you definitely sympathize with them.

Do you start yelling advice at the television?

Oh yeah, you can almost see everything that's about to happen and you do scream at the TV. No, don't sheet over that wall that hasn't got insulation in it! Do not put packers underneath that posi-strut! 

So, would You Do It Again?

We got everything out of that experience that we had hoped, it was the toughest thing we’d ever done in our lives, but we made life-long friends, it brought us closer and it's set us up for life… But while I’d maybe do it again, I don't think Jas would! You have to find someone else for me to do it with! Maybe me and Jimmy could do it again!!
