As seen in , this poster by master designer James Northfield has loads of vintage character. Best known today for his peerless travel poster designs, in the 30s and 40s Northfield was equally in demand for his bold and persuasive advertising images, produced for some of the biggest consumer brands and industry groups of the day.
Here he takes a humble glass of orange juice, promoting it as a daily tonic, to charming and amusing effect. The glowing lips and cheeks of his subject bear witness to the miraculous properties of the elixir, while Northfield’s trademark hand-rendered typography trumpets the message in classic style.
