ARTWORK STORY

Nguram-bang, is a Wiradjuri word meaning, Country or area. For

me ‘Country’ is all things, it is a place of belonging and a way of life. Country

incorporates rivers, creeks, waterholes, hills and valleys, plants, animals,

and people. Country embraces the seasons and constellations of the sky,

stories, and creation spirits, which are all reflected in this artwork.

ARTIST STORY

My paintings express my connections to my Aboriginal culture, in

contemporary expressions of now! I am a proud Koori woman of the Wiradjuri

people from the Central West of NSW. I am a storyteller and self-taught artist

and I have been painting and exhibiting for more than a decade.

Painting quietens my mind and supports me connect with my Culture, Country, and Ancestors. Painting strengthens my Aboriginal identity and creates a sense of belonging to ‘people and place’.

My painting style is a contemporary fusion of abstract and Aboriginal art, using groups of symbols as a way of narrating a story and preserving cultural traditions. It is the way our people have passed on information for thousands of years.

I am passionate about sharing my art, with an intention of positively influencing people’s attitudes and awareness of Australia’s First Nations people and our rich diverse cultures. I have created many commissioned artworks for private collectors and corporate organisations, both national and international.

Urban Road's stretched canvas fine art prints are professionally

printed on polycotton artist canvas, using archival inks and then stretched and

gallery wrapped. This means the image is stretched around a 38mm frame to

create a seamless, museum-quality finish.

We also offer the option to add a shadow box frame to your Urban Road canvas art print. A little different from a traditional framed print, the canvas sits within the box frame with a 5mm gap, creating a sophisticated shadow effect between the frame and the canvas. Our solid timber box frame mouldings are 10mm wide, and 55mm deep, and add approximately 40mm to the length and height of the listed canvas size.
