Ella Boylan, from Port Lincoln, South Australia, is a contemporary landscape artist who was born and raised on the Eyre Peninsula. Her childhood was spent outdoors, fostering a deep connection with the expansive and rugged landscapes that enveloped her. As long as she can remember she had a need to externalise her inner world through creative endeavours. Grief and loss of both her brother and husband in separate sudden accidents has highlighted the importance for her to be creating, a place to express herself and find some inner stillness. Her style can be labelled as colourful and contemporary. Not quite abstract but nor is it realism, it’s somewhere in between and she feels there is an instinctive familiarity amongst all her work. Inspiration for her work comes from the world around her, her environment, experiences and emotions. Art continues to bring her healing; a place to discover and lose herself. Above all her work is driven by a deep respect for the natural world and she is committed to creating meaningful, evocative art that speaks to the essence of Australia.
