Steph Brooke's earliest memories of being interested in art dates back to her childhood when she was introduced to a "busy bag" by her mum. This bag contained sketchbooks, papers, pencils, crayons, and textas, and she carried it everywhere she went. Whether she was drawing, gardening, or fishing on a boat, art played a significant role in her life from an early age. Over time, her busy bag evolved to include new additions like red wine and music, particularly the blues of Aretha Franklin and various jazz sounds, with a special fondness for the saxophone.

Steph has explored various careers, including nursing, aged care, graphic design, and investment management. However, it wasn't until she discovered painting that she found her true passion. Initially, she started painting to add color to her home's walls, but her interest in art quickly grew beyond that. Supported by her loving partner, family, friends, and community, Steph pursued her dreams as a self-taught painter. This newfound passion has brought immense joy and fulfillment to her life.
