Midweek Minute: Week 9

Dean and Shay have completed their Block apartment, and now, their eyes are fixed on Auction Day. In our final Midweek Minute for the year, we catch up with Shay to talk redo rooms and selling her apartment.

What was it like to go back and redo a room?
I think for us, it was really important that we were assigned the living room, given that we hadn’t completed it the first time. If we had to fix another room on top of that, it would’ve been ridiculous. We were so lucky that we were given that extra bit of money to finish it off and do it justice. We’re so proud of it. We love the fireplace, and the flooring, and the furniture.

Now that your Block apartment is finished, is the apartment you thought it’d be?
I can’t believe it’s complete, I really can’t. There’s nothing we would change. It really represents us, and our personality, and who we are. So obviously, we love it. We just hope there are buyers out there who will love it too. We feel like it’s really luxe. It’s probably something we could never afford. [Laughs.]

How are you feeling about the impending Auction?
We’re pretty nervous about it. There’s a lot riding on it. You put your blood, sweat and tears into finishing the apartment. You know, you leave your family – I’ve quit my job, Dean’s left his business… We hope, at the end of the day, it was all worth it. I mean, the experience has been amazing, but it would be nice to have a nice little cherry on top at the end.
