Emma and Struan Hopwood bring together two distinct artistic worlds to create collaborative works that are bold, layered, and deeply resonant. Emma’s painterly, intuitive approach, characterised by textured brushstrokes, sponging, and handwork, meets Struan’s graphic, street-art-inspired style, resulting in pieces that are both harmonious and dynamic. Their shared process is a conversation in itself—concepts are born during long walks and late-night brainstorming sessions, evolving into artworks that carry both their signatures.

Emma begins the canvas with her expressive strokes, focusing on movement, texture, and subjects that feel alive—often people, figures, or other “breathing” forms. Once her layers are laid, Struan brings his vibrant graffiti, manga, and street-art energy, adding bold colours and striking graphic elements. The canvas then returns to Emma, who seamlessly blends their styles, and finally, Struan adds the finishing touches, ensuring every detail speaks to their shared vision.

This collaborative dance unfolds in their studio, where the hours slip by to the sounds of hip hop, indie rock, and podcasts. Together, they create works that are as much about the journey of collaboration as the final result—pieces that reflect their shared passion for storytelling, innovation, and the blending of seemingly contrasting styles.
