Yolan Eke paints intuitively expressing her optimism and love of light, texture and colour. She employs abstract expressionism rather than true representation through loose, free flowing movement. Her highly textured art is predominantly achieved with layers of oil paint applied with a palette knife or brush. Yolan finds continuous inspiration in the natural beauty of the world around her - life in Spain and New Zealand before recently returning to the Gold Coast hinterland. Her current collection is inspired by her time living in Spain until 2020.She was captivated by the unique landscape from the white mountain villages to the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean, the architecture, the culture and the beautiful people. This inspiration has given her a deep desire to create vibrant pieces rich in texture and colour.
