A reindeer hide is delicate in nature which is why we recommend that they be used only for decoration, such as under a coffee table or draped over the back of a sofa or chair where there is minimal rubbing and friction on the fibre. Excessive rubbing and moving of the hide may cause the fibres to snap away from the hide which results in shedding.

Every hide is 100% natural meaning variations in hair fibre tone, texture, markings are to be expected and appreciated. This includes the non-slip leather hide natural backing.

We ensure the tanneries we work with follow strict environmentally friendly guidelines set down by the European Union as to the tanning and preparation of these CITES approved reindeer hides. No harmful chemicals or dyes are applied to ensure there are perfectly safe for people, pets and gentle on the environment.

For longevity we recommend infrequent moving of the hide so as not to disrupt the fragile hide membrane. Also it is important to keep it off warm surface such as heated floors that will dry out the hide backing. To clean the reindeer hide we recommend spot cleaning with a damp wet water cloth.
