Arlo was inspired by our overgrown veggie garden. In the quiet midnight hours I imagine the pumpkins become banksias and the radishes become blooms. The wildflowers that grow might be considered weeds by some but I can't help but notice their beauty and persistence as they tower over the lavender, rosemary and carrot stems. There is beauty in wildness and joy in chaos that can't be ignored...or at least can't be missed at midnight when I'm awake, admiring clear skies and enjoying the cool breeze through the open windows, the scent of mock orange and jasmine bringing a sweet innocence to the evening air. There's a sort of enchantment in those timeless, silent, sleepy hours...and sometimes that's when the best painting magic takes place.
