We take a look into Dea & Darren's new seaside home

We are excited to take a look into this gorgeous home featured recently in Inside Out Magazine...

Block winners Deanne and Darren Jolly take us through their recently restored cottage in Sorrento.

The beautiful white weatherboard Victorian, which the couple purchased last year, had, amazingly, been left untouched since the 1940's, making it a beautiful blank canvas for Dea and Darren to begin work on.

"After a bit of digging we have discovered that the house was originally named Franklin by its first owner, after being moved to the site from Point Franklin near Portsea in the 1890's. Perfect"

We’re loving Dea's clever seaside colour palette of navy and light blues, and light grey and white tones with gold/mustard touches - perfect!

The brass fixtures in the kitchen and Carrera marble are all in-keeping with Franklin’s charm. You can almost smell the fresh, salty seaside air wafting through those original sash windows...

We all know Dea can do luxurious - how inviting is this lush guest bedroom? As Dea explains, “It was important to respect the integrity and era of Franklin, while still including touches of luxury." We think she’s nailed it.

Dea and Darren have done a clever job of keeping the existing charm of the building, even though they initially thought of changing it radically. At the eleventh hour, they had a change of heart.
"Getting to know the personality of the home is key and we almost missed this chance,” she says. “We feel lucky we made the decision to try her out before we went ahead with the renovations."

Congratulations Dea & Darren we really do think Franklin is FABULOUS! Now, when can we come visit?!
