We take a look at what they have in store for their third level - and whether it really IS enough to win them The Block
Mitch and Mark might just have made one of THE most controversial moves in Block history, deciding to turn their third-floor master suite into a stand-alone entertainment area. Before we go any further, let’s take a look at what they have planned:
Mitch and Mark plan to turn their third-floor master suite into a stand-alone entertainment area.
The couple have decided to effectively flip the plans, turning their Master into an entertainer’s space with ensuite and kitchen prep area.
“Do we think we will win? I don’t know,” Mitch admits, saying he knows their decision is a huge gamble. “What we are doing is a massive game-changer for us - but also for everyone.
We are now after a distinctive, different buyer than all the other guys.”
Mitch and Mark hope to attract a buyer who prioritises lifestyle over bedroom space - in some ways they are effectively designing the home “for themselves.”
But is that really so wise?
Fellow contestant Jesse, a local real estate agent in St Kilda, doesn’t think so. “If I was their real estate agent and they told me what they were planning on doing and asked me for my thoughts, I would have said, ‘Don’t do that - because you reduce your market,’” he explains.
Mitch and Mark are what you might call 'old hats' (sorry guys!) in the renovation game.
Four bedrooms always command a higher price on the market than three - the big question now is, will people be swayed by Mitch and Mark’s vision, effectively agreeing to pay top dollar for the lifestyle that layout will enable?
Only time will tell. One thing’s for certain though - Sunday night’s reveal will be VERY interesting.
