Martini Furniture: Australian Made customisable furniture supplier to The Block

Husband and Wife team, Erin and Leif, started Martini Furniture in 2017 in an attempt to provide Aussie home and décor customers with a colourful alternative to the bland, beige and grey interiors products flooding mass-produced retailers. 

Martini Furniture found that people were calling out for a high-quality, luxurious range that was manufactured locally, but was still affordable. Erin and Leif have built a business offering fully customisable products with over 100 fabrics and colours to choose from, all manufactured locally, and quickly.

Erin and Leif are keen to get their products in the hands of as many customers around the country, so have decided to differentiate from their competitors and offer Free Delivery Australia-wide – yes, that’s right, Free delivery no matter where you live. Because there’s nothing worse than finding the perfect product, but then being stung with hundreds of dollars of shipping fees at the checkout. 

Starting with Upholstered Bedheads, Martini Furniture’s product range expanded rapidly once they started sponsoring The Block, eager to bring the contestants’ visions to life. 

Now, more than six years on, Martini Furniture’s range spans Upholstered Bedheads and Bases, Upholstered Wall Panels, Ottomans, Blanket Boxes, Bench Seat cushions, Throw cushions, Sheer and Solid Curtains, Pet Beds, and most recently, homewares products like candles (in collaboration with Evenfall Candles), plus leather products such as tissue box covers and planter holders etc (coming very soon!)

Martini Furniture manufactures everything in Melbourne, either in their workshop, or by valued local manufacturing partners in Melbourne.

Erin and Leif are huge on supporting small businesses and have developed a tight-knit network of partners locally to help with production overflow and keep manufacturing local. This way, they can control the quality, speed and customisable designs of their product range to help customers get exactly what they want.

Recently we were lucky enough to catch up with Erin and Leif and chat all things The Block right as we are kicking off for 2023.

Who is your fave Block couple?

We have been fortunate to have worked with The Block in the 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 seasons, making over 25 custom-made products to bring the contestants’ visions to life.

For Leif, his stand-out favourite Block couple was Bianca and Carla in The Gatwick 2018. A huge netball fan, he loved creating their genuine Tan Leather Upholstered Bedhead which took out the weekly win in their Guest Room, and is still a top-selling product today.

The genuine Tan Leather Upholstered Bedhead featured in Bianca and Carla's guest room, is still one of the most popular Martini Furniture items sold.

This design has proved it's a timeless masterpiece, you really cannot go wrong with tan leather.

For Erin, as a long time Block super fan, it’s really difficult to choose a favourite Block couple, but as far as rooms go, she loved working with Ronnie and Georgia on their cinema room in the basement of the 2021 Season at Hampton. Supplying upholstered wall panels and velvet curtains, was a huge stretch to deliver in five days, but the result was spectacular, especially paired with the stunning fibre optic starry ceiling.

How did you go about getting your products on The Block? 

Working with The Block in the last four out of six seasons has been very exciting for us and has transformed our business. 

It has forced us to expand our product range, faster than we would have otherwise, pushing us out of our comfort zone – in a good way.

Being involved with The Block has helped us make a national name for ourselves and added to our credibility with fans of the show. 

Working out how to make fully customised products in 3-4 days to deliver on time each week has helped us streamline our manufacturing processes without sacrificing our high-quality standards, while still keeping our lead times short for our residential and commercial customer orders. There’s nothing more frustrating than choosing a product and then having to wait up to four months for delivery. We work hard to get our products into your hands in a matter of weeks, not months so that customers can start enjoying their choices as soon as possible.

What is your fave Martini Furniture product? 

Our favourite product to make is our oversized upholstered bedheads with matching bases. By extending the bedhead out past the bed, behind each bedside table, we are able to help our customers achieve a luxurious, hotel-style look for an affordable price. And, despite these bedheads being over 3m long, we still offer Free Delivery Australia-wide, so that you don’t have to worry about how much it’s going to cost to get it into your home!
