Judges Darren Palmer, Shaynna Blaze and Neale Whitaker are back with a bang

The Block judges are back and this time the style and design experts mean business.

With five apartments across three floors to judge, it’s no small task ahead for the trio who had nothing but excitement for the new building and the Blockheads.

Editor-in-Chief of Vouge Living Australia, Neale Whitaker, didn’t downplay the enormous job ahead for the Blockheads.

“It’s going to be one hell of a challenge,” Neale said.

“But if they get it right it’s probably going to be the best ever series of The Block.”

A can-do attitude is essential for any successful Blockhead and awarding-winning interior designer Shaynna Blaze says this year’s bunch are some of the best she’s ever seen.

“People are going to connect with these couples,” Shayna said.

"They’re very real and very honest with how they’re approaching this Block. They are really rising to the challenge.”

Of course this year’s block is not only big in size, but rich in history and style too. Interior designer Darren Palmer doesn’t keep secrets when it comes to his favourite design style.

“Because it’s an Art Deco building, it’s pretty close to my heart. Every apartment I’ve ever owned has been Art Deco. I love the period and everything about its architecture,” Darren said.

The adventure begins Sunday August 21 at 7o'Block on Channel 9.
