The Block Shop says a BIG, Happy International Women's Day to these hard working Block Girls from The Block 2022, the biggest season yet, literally!
Next up is the The Blocks kind heart, Deb Saunders.
Deb became a Block family favourite when she appeared in the 2019 Season. One half of the talented duo of Andy and Deb, she quickly became popular amongst fellow contestants and fans, she is known for her kindness and generosity.
Deb Saunders pictured here with Andy, and their children, read what Deb and the family have been up to recently here.
"International women's day is a celebration of women's achievements throughout history."
"When I think of the Aussie women that I know, I think of loving supportive friends and relatives. I think of strength and determination. I am so lucky to know so many incredible women who are inspirations to me for many reasons. I've seen incredible strength when things are really tough and women who've had to hold it all together whilst going through incredibly difficult times including my Mum and Sister when cancer touched both of their lives. International Women's Day means celebrating all women, their many talents and their strengths. " Deb tells Insider Style.
We here at Insider Style and The Block Shop, just love Deb, her kindness and empathy to others shines so brightly we think she is the perfect role model to celebrate on International Womens Day 2023.
The Block Ladies from 2019 season, all strong powerful women that formed an incredible friendship throughout the show.
Next up is none other than El'ise also from the 2019 series, never before has a contestant performed such due diligence prior to arriving on set as El'ise did.
“Before getting on The Block we researched St Kilda thoroughly for inspiration - being from WA, we didn’t know too much about the area. The craziest thing was, in our research, prostitution was one of the news articles that kept popping up. Specifically, a name and a photo of a woman - she had a beautiful face, a lovely smile and kind eyes - and her name was Tracey Connelly. "
“My Mum always taught me to look at the inner beauty in people, and that’s what I pride myself on doing daily. I felt like I needed to say something, and the best way I felt I could do this was to try to give Tracey, and the women who worked with her in St Kilda, a voice again; to showcase them in artworks in a tasteful way."
El'ise and Matt filled their hallways with beautiful and unique art "I wanted the art I chose to be figurative artworks of beautiful, strong, imperfect woman."
You can read all about the full article here it truely shows the inspiring woman that El'ise is and for that we salute her on this International Womens Day.
It made me think "how lucky I am, and about what I could do on The Block to bring beauty to the street, and to honour Tracey and all the other women in her situation that had worked the area in times gone by," Elise tells Insider Style.
Looking back a little further into The Block archives of powerhouse women we find sisters Alisa and Lysandra.
Although it's been a while since the girls faces have appeared on The Block Site, their beautiful products are very much at home in The Block houses still to this day.
These clever ladies created Al.ive Body.
"As interior designers, aesthetic yet highly functional design is the primary focus of all our interior transformations. It’s our belief that our surroundings largely define the way that we feel, and consequently shape the quality of our daily lives.
Integrating this ethos with our desire to live a more conscious lifestyle was at the top of our agenda when creating al.ive body®. The result is a personal care range that marries high-end product design and integrity with the demands of the conscious consumer.
Love from former Block heads, Alisa and Lysandra xx"
Alisa and Lysanrda have created the most amazing range of body products, these girls are such clever cookies, creating such a beautiful, timeless design. Bravo Ladies!
Over the years of The Block one thing has been for sure, we have absolutely no shortage of amazing women involved with the show, we wish we could pay homage to them all. Take a look back below at some of the incredible creative women that have donned the tool belt and graced us with their presence on The Block.
The ladies that have made The Block over the years. Strong, inspiring women, Happy International Women's Day 2022.
When talking incredible women and The Block it just wouldnt feel right to not mention two of the most inspiring women we know!
Emma and Sarah, The Block Shop founders and down right dream team.
Cousins Emma and Sarah, founders of The Block Shop, have created an amazing team of like minded women.
Sarah is a creative force to be reckoned with, currently run off her feet with all things, The Block 2023 in Hampton. A mum of two and master of all jobs, you will find her onsite at The Block, at school drop off, in a meeting and on a call all at once, she's a busy lady but never to busy for a chat!
Emma is the ying to Sarah's yang, an equally amazing mum to her own two children, and for those that don't know she and Sarah are cousins. She's the 'Chief Everything Officer' here at The Block Shop HQ and an amazing boss lady, there is literally no job she won't get done!
"We may be related, but thankfully Sarah and I have completely different brains. We both bring very different skill-sets to the table, and really do complement each other. Sarah is the ‘Ideas Girl’ and is always coming up with some crazy hair-brained idea. I’m ‘The Implementer,’ who loves nothing more than to bring Sarah’s ideas to life! We’ve learnt over time that the best way for the two of us to harmoniously work together is to spend our time doing what we do best - and to stay out of each other’s backyard. The reality is: the business only works with both us - we couldn’t do it without each other!" Emma tells Insider Style.
You sure are a dream to work with Emma and Sarah, The Block Shop Ladies are so proud to be apart of the team you have both created. We cannot wait to see some new powerhouse women brace our screens this year in 2023.
