Game on!

Kristian and Mimi Basketball Court

Australian backyards have come a long way.

From a space where we planted a bit of lawn, maybe a veggie patch and tried to hide the inevitable sagging clothesline, they’re now often the focus of the home, where friends and family gather.

And with Dream Courts, they can become a space nobody wants to leave.

Across The Block, contestants with big dreams have seized the opportunity to turn their yards - back and front – into multi-purpose entertainment areas with everything from a full-sized tennis court to more compact half-sized basketball courts, taking the yards to a level never seen before.

Kristian and Mimi's Dreamcourt backyard feature.

Which is exactly how the whole idea began, explains Dream Courts founder and CEO Luke Tadich.

“Working as a landscaper, I was always seeing spaces tat were beautiful, but lacked function and use,” Luke says.

“This kept me thinking about what the possibilities could be for backyards and commercial spaces.

“Being an avid basketballer, I thought about how we could bring the professional environment back home, to give a purpose-built space for kids and adults to continue to practice and play in areas that emulate stadium games.”

That led Luke to look into the “sports tiles” arena, where he quickly found if he wanted a surface that would provide a similar experience to playing on a traditional Sprung Timber Floor – and one that would last in the harsh Australian Climate – he’d have to come up with his own solution.

“Dreamcourts tiles have shock absorbing properties to reduce shock by up to 35%, creating a safer and more comfortable surface, Luke says.

“Our tiles are the only tiles on the market specially designed, and exclusive to Dreamcourts, with thermal expansion joints to allow for the tile to withstand changes in temperature, and reduce the amount of cupping of the tiles, seen in other variants.”

And as the Block contestants have found, the modular properties of the tiles means the courts can be adapted for any space.

Maddy & Charlotte's half court was a real hit with the judges.

“No matter the space, location, size and difficulty, we always find a solution for our customers,” Luke says.

“Dreamcourts have the option to build your court in Tile, Acrylic, Timber or Synthetic, offering a full suite.

Take a look at how The Block contestants have transformed their yards with Dream Courts so far:

Tom and Sarah-Jane opted for a Dreamcourts Court in their Gisbourne backyard.

Omar & Oz crafted the perfect backyard space with their Dreamcourts Court.

Each site had its own challenges, Luke says, but they all prove how a Dreamcourt can be adapted to fit any location.

“Dreamcourts are proud to have been approached by contestants over two seasons of The Block to help transform their backyards and turn their spaces into Room Winning reveals.” Luke says.

“It has been an exciting experience for the business, to tackle the different projects this has brought up, showing the versatility of our product and how we can seamlessly fit into your project.

And that Block experience is available to anyone, Luke adds.

“We have Site Inspectors and Install Teams all throughout Australia, and can provide customers with detailed renders and plans for the proposed job, allowing them to visualise the job before it happens,” he says.

“Simply get in touch by submitting a Get a Quote form on our website and our team will be in touch, from here we understand what you are thinking or if you have no idea that is also fine too! We are great at providing options and helping you find your perfect court.

“Next we will inspect your space to understand what is needed and can even show you what it could look like with our AR tools! After that we get to work building out your quote, we can offer civil services and complete your concrete if needed, or can help work with your concreter to ensure they get it done.

“Dreamcourts are a one stop shop, offering Concreting, Surfaces, Hoops, Boundary Netting/Fencing, and accessories.

“No space is too small if you can dream it.”
