Daniel and Jade – Where Are They Now?

It's been a year since The Block Brighton...we catch up with Daniel and Jade.

"Our winnings have allowed us to focus on our own projects and our family," Jade tells Insider Style.


Can you believe it’s been a whole year?

Wow! We blinked and missed it, I think! It feels like it happened years ago due to the ever-changing world we live in now adjusting to Covid-19.  If we could just hit rewind and take away the pandemic maybe we could enjoy it a little while longer.

What are you up to these days?

We have slipped back into life as we know it pre Block. Our winnings have allowed us to focus on our own projects and our family. Daniel is full time working on the family farm, which has been a forever dream and he is so happy.  It’s certainly a change from 3 jobs, although still as busy as ever.  I (Jade) am full time Mum to our 3 children and am enjoying every bit of it.  Parties, play dates, sports, homework, movie nights and of course we have battled sickness with Isla since returning home last year. 

We have continued renovating together but this time our own properties.  They were long overdue and with an insane rental market we have definitely been motivated to get them finished.

Daniel and Jade sold their Block home for $3,800,000 walking away with a $460,000 profit.

How has life changed for you since then?

For us life really hasn’t changed that much.  We live rural, life is quiet and everyone knows you and due to our daughter Isla’s health and the rapid spread of COVID-19 we don’t tend to expose ourselves.  We are often recognised in the street by fans of the show, so excited they have met someone famous.  But most of all we are very fortunate because The Block has definitely eased our financial burdens.

How long did it take for life to get back to normal?

Life was back to normal the day we arrived home.  As parents to three children we instantly slipped back into it like we had never left.  We returned so close to Christmas we hit the ground running and haven’t stopped since.

Jade is a full time mum to their three beautiful children and Daniel is full time working on the family farm, "which has been a forever dream and he is so happy," Jade Tells The Block Shop.

Have you been doing any reno work since then?

Oh my goodness yes!!!!!  Unfortunately none at our house yet but we are hoping it won’t be far away.  We have only been doing our own reno’s which has been rewarding.

Have you changed since The Block?

We haven’t changed a thing!  We are Daniel and Jade the country kids who just want to have fun and do us!

As individuals and as a couple we are very happy in our own skin and will forever be true to ourselves. 

Are you still living in the same area?

Yes, we are still living in Wandearah on the farm and it’s just bliss.

Do you keep in touch with the other Brighton Blockheads? 

We do!  We must admit it’s hard as our lives are hectic, as is everyone’s and our internet it almost non-existent some days.  We still don’t have WIFI!!!! We went on an amazing adventure together and we will always have a special friendship.

Do you have any Block besties?

No.  As the middle house on The Block in 2020 we were very much the floaters and we were friends with everyone!!!   We believe we will always be friends as we shared such a special and unique season of The Block together, ‘It is what it is’ and we made the best of it!

So now you’re back on the couch, what’s it like to watch the new teams take on their Block journey?

There are so many emotions, it’s exciting, scary, overwhelming, happy and sad. 

We know how they feel and it changes the ball game.  We definitely don’t watch it the same because what they are experiencing good, bad, ugly is all real.

Can you believe a new crew are following in your footsteps?

We always knew there would be a new group to follow on behind us and we are so happy for them.  Watching others have their dreams become reality is unreal and we still can’t believe that.

We were even more excited knowing Ronnie and Georgia were back as we loved them and called them our favourites in 2017.

What advice are you yelling at the screen while you watch?

Be you! Do you! Go with your gut instinct!

Ask questions, make friends and HAVE FUN!

We get excited seeing tradespeople and shop assistants we now know and are jealous we don’t get to chat with Shelley and Scotty weekly!!!

Would you do it again?

Well, this one is tricky!!!! If there was no pandemic ever to be seen or heard of ever again YES we would!  It was one of the most amazing adventures of our lives and we wish everyone could get the opportunity to be a part of it. Share it around we say.
