Block stars Deb and Andy take us inside their home this Christmas

Deb shares with us her Christmas styling tips and we even get a sneak peek at their stunning Chrissie tree!

We all loved her style, now our favourite Blockshopper, Deb takes us inside her Wallabi Point home with a touch of sparkle this Christmas.

How do you manage to avoid the Christmas chaos, Deb?
We try & plan ahead but sometimes things get missed and that’s okay. You can often find us running around Christmas Eve getting the last-minute gifts and food but we are so into Christmas and are very happy people at Christmas time! We enjoy the hustle, bustle and excitement. We don’t think there is anything better than friends & family together eating & drinking. It really is a great time of the year.

Andy and Deb ChristmasFamily is everything to Deb and Andy - pictured with Luca, 14, and Tyler, 9, as well as their foster children Leilanie, 22, and Gregg, 21.

Any tips to keep the stress away and spirits high?
Have fun & live in the moment. Time flys so fast & we have gone from having babies & toddlers to big kids in the blink of an eye so we savour all of those beautiful special moments together. For us, the lead up is as fun as the day. We do a Santa pic every year and all of the kids have to be in it. They love it so it doesn’t take any arm twisting to get them there.

Christmas time with Deb and Andy We love a good Santa pic and this is a cracker from the Saunders family album.

How will you be spending Christmas Day?
Breakfast with the extended family & then home for lunch & dinner. There is likely to be some swims in the pool & surfing too.
We are big on Christmas here. Long before we had kids Andy’s Christmas spirit was through the roof! I remember him talking about Christmas in his sleep when we were first living together. It woke me up and I thought he was joking but he was sound asleep. Now that we have 4 children Christmas spirit has reached fever pitch!

Deb Christmas WreathDeb has handmade this stunning Christmas wreath. What are you waiting for? Go on and find some dried flowers and take inspiration from this beautiful creation.

What is on the menu?
We will do a hot meal, some seafood & about 10 different desserts. There will be way too much but the leftovers will keep everyone happy for days after.

Grazing table Deb and AndyWe love a good grazing table and the Saunders sure can pull a good one-off!

Christmas tree - real or fake?
I grew up with real trees but Andy & I had a little fake one for about 25 years. We got it on sale when we first moved in together & found it hard to part with as we made so many memories around it. We replaced it last year & got a new one on sale. We will probably get another 20 years out of the new one.

Deb and Andy Christmas tree 2019Deb has styled their Christmas tree this year with plenty of golden sparkles to make you smile.

Deb, can you share any table setting styling tips?
We move onto our huge covered deck for Christmas each year So it’s quite a relaxed vibe. We have a huge timber table out there & lots of seating. We usually move our dining table out there too. We have a cutout timber tree that everyone signs which has become very special to us.
I am doing a natural white & green theme this year with a beautiful linen table cloth and crockery plates with gold cutlery. We try not to do throw away & use things that we can reuse for years to come. There’s always fresh greenery on my table too. We will keep the table set up for a few days after Christmas and continue to eat outside.

Deb table setting 2017Deb sure knows how to style a table setting. This was the Saunders Christmas table in 2017, we cannot wait to see what 2019 brings to the table!

What is on your Christmas Wishlist?

I’m wanting a beautiful pair of slides this year. They are really well made & I’ve has my eye on them for a few years now. I have a hunch Santa might finally come through!

What does Christmas mean to you?
Family, food & reflecting on how amazing our year has been. It is also a time that we get excited about another year incoming!
