Melbourne based painter and textile designer Katie McKinnon has developed a strong following with collectors throughout Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America.
Katie's large scale mixed media works explore the fierce beauty of Australia's underwater gardens, marine flora and native fish species, and the infinite energy of underwater currents and circa-tidal rhythms.
Katie works intuitively to merge the ethereal and the everyday. Her paintings address the immensity and fragility of the underwater world, coral mortality and ever changing tides.
Katie's paintings are part of private collections in Australia, France, Switzerland, the UK, and North America, and her work has been featured on four past seasons of The Block, and in numerous Australian and international publications. Katie has also designed a collection of rugs for The Rug Collection. This season at The Gatwick, Katie's blue Aqueous Seaspray rug was featured in the winning living room of Courtney and Hans and is available to purchase via The Block Shop (Rug Addiction).
